Discover Altötting
Altötting – a town in Upper Bavaria situated between green fields and home of the Hotel zur Post. Even Pope Benedict XVI once called the little town the “heart of Bavaria and one of the hearts of Europe” during his visit. The centre of Altötting is without doubt Kapellplatz, where our hotel is also located. Pilgrims and worshippers gather here all year round to see the Black Madonna in the holy “Gnadenkapelle” (Chapel of Grace). Consequently, Altötting is an important pilgrimage centre, characterised by the Catholic faith.
However, Altötting has so much more to offer than its religious side. Fans of the outdoors will also be in their element! There are, for example, numerous (themed) cycling routes and hiking trails around and through Altötting. Alternatively, you can take part in the family challenge – a great way to discover the town. There are also regular, lively events in the town that make a visit worthwhile: experience the traditional “Altöttinger Hofdult” festival, which has been running for 637 years, or musical highlights such as the European days of music and the summer concert.
