History & philosophy from the Hotel zur Post
At more than 700 years old, the Hotel Zur Post in Altötting, Upper Bavaria is one of the oldest culinary establishments in Bavaria. For centuries, it functioned as a farmhouse tavern and inn on the route between Munich and Vienna in the days of the stagecoach. We owe today’s beautiful façade to the famous Italian architect Enrico Zuccalli, who designed the Bavarian hotel in an Italian baroque style. The building has borne the name “Gasthof zur Post” since 1830 and is a listed building due to its architectural and historical significance.
The Bavarian hotel was taken over by the VivaPLAN corporate group in 2019 and extensively and beautifully renovated between November 2019 and September 2021. This has resulted in our “home with a heart”: a modern 4-star hotel with 75 rooms and a unique atmosphere. Our mission is to give our best every day to create unique, heartfelt moments!
